Beauty salon and cosmetics: managing services, products and customers
A salon sells both time (hair, treatments) and products (shampoo, make-up). You need to track both, without mixing service income and product income.
Separate services and products
Create a catalogue of services with their prices (cut, braids, treatment, make-up) and a catalogue of products in stock. You will know what pays most: time spent or products sold.
Track product stock
- Count shampoos, treatments, nail polish and make-up regularly.
- Distinguish products for resale from those used in the salon.
- Set an alert level for fast-moving products.
- Watch the expiry dates of cosmetics.
Regular customers and credit
Note your regular customers, what they like and how often they visit. If you give credit, apply the same rules as anywhere: ceiling, deadline, up-to-date book.
Staff and pay
Each employee should have personal access so their services are recorded under their name. It makes commissions or bonuses easy to calculate and avoids disputes.
