Backing up your business data: never lose everything

A lost, stolen or broken phone, a soaked notebook: if your whole business is in one place, an accident can wipe out months of work. A good backup protects you.

What to protect

  • The history of sales and expenses.
  • Stock and purchase prices.
  • The customer list and the credit they owe you.
  • Your suppliers and important documents.

The two-copy rule

Always keep at least two copies of your data in two different places: for example the device and an online service, or the device and a USB stick. A single copy is a risk.

Back up regularly

A backup from last year is useless. Make one every week or month, depending on activity, and note the date. A monthly Excel export is also a good file for your accountant.

Protect access

Lock the phone with a code or fingerprint, do not share your codes, and give each seller their own access. If it is lost, you can recover your data from another device.
